Graston

IASTM stands for Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization. It can sometimes be called Graston (the original technique) or Astym, both of which are "name brand" techniques for basically a very similar treatment protocol. This technique aims at increasing blood flow, breaking up fibrosis, scar tissue and adhesions as well as promoting healing in the areas treated.

This can be a stand alone treatment but at VOMW we incorporate it into our treatment sessions. IASTM is a tool for therapists to use, making their hands very precise as they work at specific depths and along associated areas of the body to help tissues lengthen, remodel or release.
